About the Financial Controller position

We are looking for an experienced financial controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This is a part-time position (contract) with possibility of full-time employment in the future. It will initially be approx. 1-2 days per week (on-site in SOMA area of San Francisco).


  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Manage the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts and prepare reports on results and variances
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements with reports to executive team
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Additional controller duties as necessary

Financial Controller requirements are:

  • 3+ years' experience working as a Financial Controller or equivalent
  • Profound experience with accounting procedures and principles
  • Significant experience with general ledger functions, the month-end/year-end close process and financial statements management
  • Exposure to hardware and manufacturing operations a major plus
  • Good knowledge of accounting software (Netsuite, Bill.com)
  • Experience preparing slide decks a plus
  • Strong mathematical and administration skills
  • Professional certification such as CPA or CMA
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
