Overview

We are looking for an acoustic prototyping engineer based on the US west coast to join our multidisciplinary technology team immediately. You will be working on the development of SUBPAC’s mechanical components for the optimum transmission of low frequencies, for various use-cases and form factors.

Responsibilities

  • Drive all prototyping and testing of new hardware vibroacoustic modules and methods of integration
  • Perform hardware integration for multiple consumer, pro-audio and automotive programs, ranging from prototype to production phase
  • Design prototypes leveraging acoustic theory, FEA and acoustic measurements
  • Assemble prototypes precisely by hand
  • Conduct subjective listening tests
  • Analyze acoustic testing data and prepare test and evaluation reports
  • Develop and execute ongoing reliability testing. Coordinate failure analysis efforts on hardware components

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Qualified to work in the U.S
  • Ability to commute to SUBPAC’s Belmont, CA office on a daily basis
  • Substantial experience working with your hands and prototyping and assembling hardware and electronics
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in acoustics/mechanical engineering
  • Experience with CAD and 2D drawing software
  • Experience with 3D printing
  • Experience operating testing equipment
  • Fundamental knowledge of vibration, acoustics and thermal systems
  • Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Love of music and audio!

Preferred

  • Experience with CNC milling
  • Professional experience with loudspeaker design, building, testing and evaluation
  • Proficient in CAD for designing/modelling/reviewing (e.g. CATIA, SolidWorks)
  • Proficient with acoustic measurement systems (e.g. SoundCheck, B&K)
  • Experience in automotive engineering, including understanding automotive regulations and standards
